What is idolatry?
Trusting in created things rather than the Creator.
Why does God get to tell us who we are and what we're supposed to do?
Because he is our Creator.
He is all-powerful.
What can we know about God by looking at his creation?
He is powerful; he is divine/God; we answer to him as creatures.
Can anyone keep the law of God perfectly?
Since the fall, no one has been able to keep the law of God perfectly.
Will God allow our disobedience and idolatry to go unpunished?
No, God is righteously angry with our sins and will punish them both in this life, and in the life to come.
How can we know who God is?
Through the ways he's told us about himself: creation; the bible; His Son.
What does it mean that God is Holy?
He is pure and perfect; without sin; unlike anyone else.
What does it mean to be created in God's image?
Personhood; relational/loving.
Did God create us unable to keep his law?
No, but because of Adam and Eve's disobedience, we are all born in sin and guilt, and unable to keep God's law.
What happens after death to those not united to Christ by faith?
At the day of judgment they will receive the fearful but just sentence of condemnation pronounced against them. They will be cast out from the favorable presence of God, into hell, to be justly and grievously punished, forever.
Is there any way for sinners to escape punishment and be brought back into God's favor?
Yes, God reconciles us to himself by a Redeemer.
God never changes.
Can we create in the same way God created?
No, we cannot create ex nihilo, but only out of the things that are already made, and with limited intellect and power.
Since no one can keep the law, what is its purpose?
That we may know the holy nature of God, and the sinful nature of our hearts; and thus our need of a Savior.
Are all sinners as bad as they possibly could be, all the time?
No, but all have the potential for any and all kinds of sinful behavior, and no one does good (Rom. 3).
