Major School Rules
Incense, candles, and an open one of these are strictly prohibited in the dormitory.
What is a flame?
A student must use this to gain access to the athletic facilities, faculty homes, or Tappert Dorm on the north side of Route 44.
What is the designated Crosswalk?
Salisbury School uses a system of these in response to unexcused absences from a variety of commitments.
What are Demerits?
A weekend begins after a student's last commitment on Saturday and ends upon his return by this time on Sunday night.
What is 7:00pm?
In addition to needing special permission from the Headmaster, Assistant Headmaster, or Form Dean, no student may ride in a vehicle with a driver under this age.
What is 21? (parental permission)
This is the owner of all network storage and information.
Who is Salisbury School?
This happens to each student's demerit and class cut number at the end of each trimester.
What is reset to "0"?
All instances of student misconduct will be handled through this office.
What is the Deans' Office?
These non-family guests are prohibited from being in the dormitory at any time.
What are female guests?
Sometimes 7:30-9:30pm can feel like the "witching hours", but are actually these.
What is Study Hall?
Most students try to avoid this early (6:45 - 7:30am) weekday gathering.
What is a Weekday Morning Detention?
In situations where a teacher believes a student may be in violation of the academic integrity rules and expectations, the incident will be directed to this person.
Who is the Dean of Academic Life?
The School considers these, and other similar items relating to vaping, to be drug paraphernalia and are prohibited.
What are Juuls?
While a daily shower would be ideal, students are expected to be this every day.
What is clean shaven?
A student will be placed on this disciplinary status when he reaches 4 class cuts or 12 demerits.
What is General Warning?
Students may not leave here Sundays through Fridays after 10:15pm or after 11:00pm on Saturdays (11:15pm home dances).
What is the dormitory?
The "Safe Haven Policy" provides an avenue by which students may seek this without threat or fruition of disciplinary action.
What is medical attention (for substance related matters)?
All of these must be made before 10:00pm, except on Saturday nights when the latest time is 11:00pm.
What are food deliveries?
A student should expect this to happen if he continues to miss classes or commitments after being placed on General Probation.
What is suspended from school?
A student is considered this anytime he is in Salisbury, Lakeville, Canaan, Millerton, Sharon, Sheffield, Egremont, and Great Barrington when school is in session, even when accompanied by parents or other relatives.
What is "on campus"?
