How can we be respectful in class?

Use kind words, listen to others, respect personal space, and treat everyone with kindness.

100

When we are moving from our class to Ms. McDonnell's class, what should our class look like and sound like?

The class should sound quiet and calm and everyone is clearing off their desks, gathering materials they need, and quietly and patiently waiting in line. In line, you are facing the door, keeping hands to yourself, and keeping voices off.

100

How should you sit at your desk?

Sit up straight, eyes and ears on the speaker, sitting on your bottom, both feet on the floor.

  • Engagement: Raising hand to speak, staying seated during lessons, participating in activities, and focusing on tasks

LISTENING! The only person we should hear is our teacher or the speaker. Our eyes and ears are on the speaker and we are being respectful. We do not interrupt, let them speak

Come prepared with materials, turn in work on time, stay on task, and take care of school property.

200

When should you leave your seat?

Only when Ms. Fennelly gives you permission! If you need to leave your seat to grab something, just ask me first, I will most likely say yes!

*with 19 students, I need to know where you are. If I glance at a seat, and you are not in it, that is not safe. I need to know where you are at all times, that's all :)

  • Inattentive: Daydreaming, playing with toys during lessons, or being off-task

300

How can we be safe in class?

Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself; walk quietly; and follow safety rules.

300

At the end of recess, what should students do to transition to lunch?

Stop what you are doing, gather your belongings, stand in line facing forward with voices OFF. Wait until the line begins moving and stay silent one behind the other until you are in the cafe. Once you arrive at lunch, stay quiet for prayer and so students can get their food. Once the lights are on, then you may chat while you eat.

300

Who can sit at the calm corner? How should it be used?

Star of the week, and anyone else granted permission. Sit calmly, quietly, and safely. If you are being loud, distracting, or making unsafe choices, you will be asked to move.

It's the calm corner, not the crazy corner!
