Geoff Hollister was approached by Phil Knight about selling shoes and receiving $2 for every shoe sold.
He was spending more money traveling to meets than he was making from sales. Needing to take a more practical approach, he sold his sports car and bought a van that could fit more inventory. The idea was so successful that Jeff Johnson also bought a van and did the same on the East Coast.
