It was like music to my ears when my mom announced that we would go down to the pool in fifteen minutes. I hastily put on my bathing suit and grabbed my cover-up, towel, goggles, and swim cap. I also got the dive sticks, some toys that would keep my sister and I busy in the pool. Once we walked downstairs, I put on my goggles and jumped into the pool. My sister Paloma did the same a few seconds later. After playing with the dive sticks for a while, we started jumping into the water. My sister and I competed to see who could make the straightest “pencil” jump. Then we spotted a couple of noodles in the corner of the pool. We saw who could stay on the noodle the longest while the other swam below. Overall, we had an exciting time at the pool.

My hometown and my college town have several things in common. First, both are small rural communities. For example, my hometown, Gridlock, has a population of only about 10,000 people. Similarly, my college town, Subnormal, consists of about 11,000 local residents. This population swells to 15,000 people when the college students are attending classes. A second way in which these two towns are similar is that they are both located in rural areas. Gridlock and Subnormal have some differences that set them apart. A racist is not some one that accepts another person for who they are, but rather pre judges them based on their appearance or their skin color. The vast diversity of society makes it nearly impossible to eliminate all racial tension. A racist usually has no other reason to hate somebody except for the fact that the other person may look different or have a different skin color than them. In the long run, racists are only hurting themselves because they are limiting their knowledge of different cultures and people and they are not broadening their horizons. Racists are extremely closed minded individuals and they strictly adhere to their own set of beliefs and morals without any regard for other people's belief systems. Racists are too selfish and not open minded enough to accept people for the way they are.
