Trade also brought guns to West and Central Africa, allowing some kingdoms to become powerful. However, these guns were used to capture people as slaves and to fight wars against weaker tribes. The slave trade resulted in the forced migration of more than 12 million Africans to the Americas and 9 million to the Middle East.
