You should never click on this from anyone you do not know.
An unsolicited email that claims the prospect of a bargain or something for nothing. Some scam messages ask for business, others invite victims to a website with a detailed pitch.

A form of malicious code that displays ads on your computer.
What is adware?
An electronic device that manipulates information or data and has the ability to store, retrieve, and process data.

Programs that you can install on your computer that protect it from viruses, hackers, and other malicious attacks.

What is personal information?
Can look like a regular email. It can look just like it was sent by your bank, an e-commerce site, a government agency or any other business.
What is a malicious email?
Computer code capable of replicating and causing damage to your computer and compromising your data.
What is a virus?
A portable computer that you can take with you and use in different environments. Has a built in screen, keyboard, and mouse.
What is a laptop computer?
Software used to maintain the security of a private network. Block unauthorized access to or from private networks.
What is a firewall?
A random collection of words to use for login information.
What is a passphrase?
When someone uses email or malicious websites (clicking on a link) to collect personal and financial information or infect your machine
What is phishing?
A form of malware that deliberately prevents you from accessing files on your computer – holding your data hostage.
What is ransomware?
A mobile phone that performs many of the functions of a computer, typically having a touchscreen
What is a smartphone?
A web addresses with https:// indicating extra measures to help secure your information.
What is a security enabled website?
A small amount of data generated by a website and saved by your web browser. Remembers information about you, similar to a preference file created by a software application.
What are cookies?
The electronic equivalent of junk mail. The term refers to unsolicited, bulk – and often unwanted – email.
