100

I have 3 sides, 3 vertices, and three angles. What am I?

A triangle

100

All my faces are squares. I am the shape of dice and sometimes ice. What am I?

A cube!

Bonus 25 points: How many square faces does a cube have?

100

True or false:

Rows are the same thing as columns

False: They are different.

Bonus 25 points: Explain how they are different.

100

True or False:

A fraction is part of a whole.

Yes! Fraction literally means a part of something.

As in : If you remember even a fraction of what we learned this quarter, I will do a

100

True or false:

The only thing we can measure is length.

False!

Bonus-10 points for each additional thing you can think of that we measure:

100

True or false

A vertex (or vertices) means the same thing as a face in 3D shapes.

False! A Vertex is a corner (vertices means more than one corner)

200

Name 3 shapes that have 4 sides, 4 corners and 4 vertices.

Possible answers:

square            (quadrilaterals-)

rectangle         "quad"=4

trapezoid

rhombus

200

I have 0 faces, 0 vertices and and 0 edges, which makes me a perfect shape for a ball! What am I? (Don’t be afraid to answer 😀)

A sphere! (S-fear)

200

What equation or number sentence could I write to represent this array? Bonus 25 points for both ways.

This array has 3 rows of 4 tiles so I can say:

4 + 4 + 4 = 12     OR       3 x 4=12

200

A fraction should always be:

a. cut into (or represent) equal pieces or groups.

b. pie

c. more than 1

A. If a shape or group of things is not equal-it is NOT a fraction.

Bonus 25 pts: Which of these shaded objects represent a fraction of the whole?

200

To measure the length of something, we always have to

a.Think really hard

b. line up the end of the item with the start of the measuring tool.

c. have big feet

B. We alway have to start at the end or edge to measure accurately.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement:

Some shapes can be made out of other shapes. Explain!

Yes! Some 2D and ALL 3D shapes are made out of other shapes.

Examples of 2D Shapes (10 point bonus)

Examples of 3D shapes (25 point bonus)

300

I have siX straight sides, siX vertices and siX angles. I am a ______________.

I am a heXagon!

(remember-the number 6 has an X and so does hexagon!)

300

A 3D shape with only one circular face , one vertex or corner, and no edges is a _______. (Hint-it makes it easier to hold your ice cream!)

A Cone!

300

On your whiteboard or with tiles, show an array that is 5 rows of 3.

There should be 5 rows, each with 3 in it.

300

If I have a square cut into 4 equal pieces and give one away, how much of the square did I give away? How much do I have left?

I gave away 1/4 and have 3/4 left.

1/4 + 3/4 = 4/4= the whole

300

How many inches in a ruler. What is another name for 12 inches when we measure? (Hint: You have one at the end of your leg).

A ruler has 12 inches. Each one is called a "foot"

300

An attribute is

a.the same thing as a peanut butter and pickle sandwich.

b. a really cool video game

c. A way to describe and sort things.

C. Of course!

Bonus 25 points:

Describe 3 attributes of a hexagon.

400

What is a Polygon? Draw an example of a Polygon and an example of a "not-polygon". (Don't let Bob out!)

A polygon is any closed shape with all straight sides. It can any number of sides. (3 or more)

400

Find something in the room that is a rectangular prism

Possible answers are

supply box, kleenex box, table

Must look like one of these (or a cube).

400

What is an array and why do we use them in math?

Arrays are an arrangement of objects in EQUAL rows and colums. We use it to ORGANIZE groups of objects so we can find out how many there are more easily. It is the model for multiplication.

400

True or false.

If I have 2/4 of a graham cracker, it is the same as 1/2 of the graham cracker.

True!

2/4 is equal (equivalent) to 1/2

400

Rulers sometimes also have centimeters on them. Is a centimeter bigger or smaller than an inch?

A centimeter is smaller. There are about 30 of them on a 12 inch ruler.

400

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares. Explain your answer.

It is true that all squares are also rectangles because the definition of a rectangle is a 4 sided shape with all straight sides and square or right angles. Opposite side are parallel and the same length.

All rectangles are NOT squares, however, because a square needs all of its sides to be the same length and all rectangles do not have equal sides.

500

Which one of these is NOT a 2D shape?

a. square

b. rhombus

c. circle

d. peanut butter sandwich with a pickle on top.

Peanut Butter Sandwich with a pickle on top (of course!)

500

What is the difference between 2D and 3D?

2D has length and width but 3D also has height.

Bonus 25 points: What does the D mean in 2D and 3D?

500

Name an array in real life that we may see every day. If possible, write the equation for the array.

Possible answers"

Eggs in a carton-2x6 or 6+6 = 12

cookies on a cookie sheet- 3x 4 or 3 + 3 + 3 + 3=12

500

True or false?

The more pieces I cut something into, the bigger each piece is.

In other words. 1/8 is bigger than 1/2.

Explain

False: The more pieces an object is cut into, the smaller each piece. The bigger the number of pieces (denominator) the smaller the part.

500

If I am measuring the length of the room it would be much easier to use:

a. Inches

b. feet

c. centimeters

b. Feet!

The smaller the unit, the longer it would take?

Bonus: If we used a yardstick, how many feet could we measure at a time?

500
