Name at least 2 common causes for a rotator cuff injury.

  1. Repetitive Motion (Overuse): One of the leading causes, especially in athletes who participate in overhead activities such as tennis, baseball, swimming, or weightlifting. The repeated overhead motion can gradually wear down the rotator cuff tendons.

  2. Aging: With age, tendons naturally weaken and lose elasticity. Over time, degenerative changes can cause the rotator cuff tendons to tear, even with normal use.

  3. Traumatic Injury: A sudden fall or lifting heavy objects incorrectly can cause acute tears, especially if there's a forceful impact on the shoulder.

  4. Poor Posture: Long-term poor posture can lead to muscle imbalances, increasing the risk of rotator cuff injuries.

  5. Weak Shoulder Muscles: Insufficient strength or stability in the shoulder muscles can increase the stress placed on the rotator cuff.

6. Previous Shoulder Injuries: If someone has experienced a previous shoulder injury, they may be more prone to further damage, including a rotator cuff tear.
