  • Adolescents require high energy due to increased activity and growth spurts and need high caloric intake.

  • Adults require lower-calorie  diet to maintain weight because their metabolism slows down.

  • Pregnant women require increased nutrient needs (iron, folate and calcium) for the development of the fetus. 

  • Athletes require nutrient dense foods with protein and carbohydrates to help repair muscle and to use as fuel for sustained activity levels.
