A look at an animal and see that it has 4 legs. Is this an observation or an inference?
This is an observation because I used one of my 5 senses to notice.
A rabbit has good hearing because it has large ears. Is this an observation or an inference?
This is an inference, because we use evidence (large ears) to reach a conclusion about rabbits (good hearing).
A bear weighs 512 pounds. Is this an observation or an inference?

The furry white animal probably lives in a cold habitat. Is this an observation or an inference?
This is an inference. You might predict that an animal that has white fur can blend in with the snow and use its thick fur to stay warm.
The piece of wood was 17 cm long and had a mass of 132 grams. It felt rough to the touch. Are these observations or inferences?
These are observations. The first two are measurements, for which you need to use your sense of sight, while the third is something known by using the sense of touch.
