Surface currents moving from the pole toward the equator are ...

cooler than the air they pass.

Since these currents are cooler than the air, energy transfers from the air to the water, decreasing the temperature of the air.

When the ocean is warmer than the air, heat flows in this direction.

Hillsdale and Cordera are the same distance from the equator, and both are near the ocean. Is Cordera warmer, colder, or the same temperature as Hillsdale? Explain why as completely as you can.

Cordera is colder than Hillsdale. The wind is blowing an ocean current coming from the equator that flows past Hillsdale, and it can make the air temperature of Hillsdale warmer. This is because the most energy from the sun is transferred to the ocean at the equator, and the ocean water carries this energy as it moves. So even though they get the same amount of energy transferred from the sun to the surface, the ocean surface has extra energy that it carries from the equator that transfers extra energy to the air. There is also wind blowing ocean water from the North Pole that would flow along the coast toward Cordera. Because very little energy is transferred to the surface at the North Pole, this water is colder than the air, so energy transfers from the air to the ocean.

Surface currents moving from the equator toward a pole are...

warmer than the air they pass.

Since these currents are warmer than the air they pass, energy transfers from water to air, increasing the temperature of the air

Palmas is closer to the equator than Neuquén. Which location has a warmer air temperature and why?

Palmas has more energy is transferred from the sun directly to the surface, and then from the surface to the air

500

What is the equator?

The imaginary line at 0 degrees latitude where the sun's energy is concentrated all year long.
