What is OASIS and what services does this organization provide?

Office of Advocacy Services for Interpersonal and Sexual Violence

OASIS provides free and confidential advocacy services for anyone in the campus community who experiences sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, or stalking.

Each is only 1%, but cumulatively they are worth ~14% of the final grade.

One assignment will require students to travel off campus! Which assignment is this?

The Ocean Hall Treasure Hunt at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.  

Students will be given a free class period on the Monday after Easter to help off-set the travel time to and from the museum.  However, this assignment can be completed at any time before the last day of classes.

The Dean of Students Office offers one-on-one meetings to discuss academic, adjustment, and personal issues that may be interfering with a student's ability to succeed academically. The office also verifies documentation for students who have medical or mental health issues that cause them to be absent from class. (202-885-3300, Butler Pavilion 408)

Students will complete both a pre-discussion assignment (including questions) and a reflection assignment for each of our guest scientists this semester.

Excused absences can only be granted with proper documentation and if you contact Dr. Hazen about it BEFORE the start of class.
