Part 3 is worth the most- 70% of the independent project.
Parts 1, 2a, and 2b are each worth 10%.
What is the policy regarding late assignments?
The Biology Department has a policy that assignments will not be accepted late.

What is OASIS and what services does this organization provide?
Office of Advocacy Services for Interpersonal and Sexual Violence
OASIS provides free and confidential advocacy services for anyone in the campus community who experiences sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, or stalking.
What proportion of your total grade is each chapter homework assignment (answers to "concept check questions") worth?
Each is only 1%, but cumulatively they are worth ~14% of the final grade.
*Multiple low-stakes assessments promote student learning and reduce student anxiety!
One assignment will require students to travel off campus! Which assignment is this?
The Ocean Hall Treasure Hunt at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum.
Students will be given a free class period on the Monday after Easter to help off-set the travel time to and from the museum. However, this assignment can be completed at any time before the last day of classes.
The PowerPoint files that will be posted after class lectures will have all of the information covered in class. T/F?

Independent project part 3 (due via Blackboard by 9 pm) & concept check for Chapter 9 (before the start of class).
What services does the Dean of Students Office offer to support students and when should you seek their help?
The Dean of Students Office offers one-on-one meetings to discuss academic, adjustment, and personal issues that may be interfering with a student's ability to succeed academically. The office also verifies documentation for students who have medical or mental health issues that cause them to be absent from class. (202-885-3300, Butler Pavilion 408)

What assignments will you need to complete for each scientist guest speaker?
Students will complete both a pre-discussion assignment (including questions) and a reflection assignment for each of our guest scientists this semester.
If you have an excused absence from an exam or assignment, how long do you have to make it up?
One week.
Excused absences can only be granted with proper documentation and if you contact Dr. Hazen about it BEFORE the start of class.
