Check the other carts in case it was misplaced, pull medication from EDK if available. If unavailable, call pharmacy. Document about medication not being available and update NP/RP of missed dose. If OTC, check central supply.
What does personal care include?
Combing hair, nails, peri care, dressing, trimming facial hair, brushing teeth, etc.
What should be done prior to entering a resident's room?
Knock & wait for a response, then introduce yourself and explain what you will be doing
What do you do with your eyewear after leaving an isolation room?
Disinfect with alcohol or bleach wipe from cleanest to dirtiest.
How do you properly remove a brief?
Tuck the brief, roll and remove. Do not PULL - this creates shearing and causes injury.
What meds are you supposed to re-order from pharmacy that does not come on our routine 28 day cycle?
Liquid medications, insulins, inhalers, scheduled IMs, eye gtts, narcotics, nasal sprays, nebulizer treatments.
How often do foley bags need changed?
WEEKLY
If a resident asks you to stop or complains of pain during care, what should you do?
Stop immediately, never use force with a resident. Notify a nurse for assistance. The nurse can determine if there is a way to complete the task without causing pain, give pain meds, etc.
Where do you find PPE if you need to restock the bins or by the doors?

If a resident has a change in condition, what should you do?
Use your nursing judgment, obtain vital signs, utilize SBAR, contact the NP, follow through with orders in a timely manner.
If a resident raises a concern or complaint, what should you do?
Fill out a concern form and give it to the administrator, DON, ADON, or Social Services. All complaints will be taken seriously and investigated.
Where do you find COVID-19 education?
The cork board in the beauty shop (where you test), also education can be retrieved from ADON or DON
