What is Enviso and when would we need to contact them? 

What: It is the name of City of Edmonton's environmental management system. It provides us with a systematic method of managing and improving our environmental performance. 

When: Any substance that has been released on the ground or into the soil, air or water that may cause, is causing or has caused an impairment of, or damage to, the environment, human health or safety or property.

Incident Report

WCB form - injured worker fills this out after seeing a doctor.

Safety Incident Data Collection (SIDC) - are for near misses, incidents that could potentially evolve into an injury, and incidents that do result in injury or time lost.

What do you do if you get Supershock (dry chemical) on your Skin?

Brush off as much as you can before rinsing to avoid chemical reaction with Water

If Able to, reach to your nearest shower station

What occupational health and safety incidents must an employer investigate?

Any incident that is legally required to be reported to Alberta OH&S, including: 

  • (a) an injury, illness or incident that results in the death of a worker, 
  • (b) an injury, illness or incident in which there is reason to believe the worker has been or will be admitted to a hospital beyond treatment in an emergency room or urgent care facility, 
  • (c) an unplanned or uncontrolled explosion, fire or flood that causes a serious injury or illness or that has the potential of causing a serious injury or illness, 
  • (d) the collapse or upset of a crane, derrick or hoist, and 
  • (e) the collapse or failure of any component of a building or structure necessary for the structural integrity of the building or structure.

Formal Hazard Assessment: evaluates the overall operations of an organization to identify hazards and develop, implement, and monitor related controls. 

Site Specific: addresses hazards that are specific to the job site or show up due to changing circumstances at the job site.

What do you need to have if you are transferring a chemical to a secondary container?

There must be a workplace label on the secondary container. The workplace label must include the product name, safe handling precautions (may include pictograms or other supplier label information), and a reference to the SDS.
