List 3 of the 3 steps of One Minute Reprimand.
1. Tell people beforehand that you are going to let them know how they are doing and in no uncertain terms.
2. Reprimand people immediately.
3. Be Tough 'n' Nice, not the other way around. The other way around don't work.
4. Tell people what they did wrong—be specific.
5. Tell people how you feel about what they did wrong—and in no uncertain terms.
6. Stop for a few seconds of uncomfortable silence to let them feel how you feel.
7. Shake hands, or touch them in a way that lets them know you are honestly on their side.
8. Remind them how much you value them.
9. Reaffirm that you think well of them but not of their performance in this situation.
10. Realize that when the reprimand is over, it's over.
11. Do it sincerely and care about the person, or it will not work.
12. Use physical touch only when you know the person well and he is sure you are sincere.
13. Be honest - it pays off in the long run. Being dishonest fails in the long run.

List 3 of the 7 steps of One-Minute Goal Setting.
One-Minute Goal Setting.
1. Spend some time with an employee at the beginning of a new task or responsibility.
2. Tell the employee (or agree on) what needs to be done.
3. Then record the goal on a single sheet of paper. It should be no more than 250 words and take no more than a minute to read.
4. Both sides keep a copy so that everything is clear and so that both can periodically check the progress.
5. Only do this goal setting on the 20% most important goals (use 80-20 rule). Don't do this for every little thing.
6. Don't just set the goals. Set performance standards too.
7. Don't let the employees unload their problems on you.
The first time this happens, explain to them how to approach the problem in behavioral terms (see the detailed notes for this book), then explain to them that from now on they are to solve their problems on their own time using the method you just taught them.
