What is Year 1: Identity + Purpose?

In Year 1 (Y1), you'll explore your identity and aspirations, and identify your best postsecondary options: college, trade / vocational program, internship/assistantship, or general employment. You'll also learn the skills needed for advocacy, improve your GPA, and take action toward your dreams.

What is a cohort, and who is part of it?


Your cohort is your group of peers in your OneGoal class. Like you, they are students committed to pursuing their aspirations after high school. Your cohort supports one another as you explore, enroll, and persist in your chosen postsecondary pathways.

What does PD stand for? Who is my PD? What is their role?

PD stands for Program Director. Your PD is your OneGoal teacher. They are there to support you throughout all three years of the program as you gain new knowledge and build the skills needed to pursue your goals.

How many Zones are there? What are they?

There are 6 Zones. They are #InThisTogether, #DefineMe, #MyAspirations, #ExploringOptions, #TellingMyStory, and #FinishStrong.

Describe the difference between a University and a Technical School.

Universities:

- Takes 4 years or more to complete

- Offer a variety of degree levels such as bachelor's, master's, and doctorate's.

Technical:

- Specialized hands-on training

- Shorter programs, often a few months to 2 years

- Offer diplomas, certificates, and some technical schools offer associate's degrees.

What is a Zone?

Zones are sections of the OneGoal program that support you in achieving a specific milestone.

What is the purpose of OneGoal? How many years does it take to complete it?

The purpose of OneGoal is to support Fellows in pursuing their goals after graduation. It takes 3 years to complete.

How does OneGoal support Fellows with their Post-Secondary aspirations?

OneGoal will provide the time, resources, and support for Fellows to reflect on and plan for their journey after high school.  Fellows will have the support of cohorts and the guidance of the Program Director for the next three years and beyond! Through lessons, activities, discussions, and projects, Fellows will learn about themself, the options available after high school, and a process for achieving their goals.

What is a Module?

A Module is a set of activities that guide you to success in each Zone. Modules are typically one or two weeks long.

What is the mission, vision, and approach of OneGoal?

Mission: Lead the movement to transform postsecondary advising and support

Vision: Every student will have an equitable opportunity to achieve their greatest postsecondary aspirations.

Approach: Working with schools and districts to transform postsecondary advising and support through our OneGoal Program, OneGoal Leadership Network, and OneGoal Essentials so that all students can define their futures.
