What is lettering?
You get a Letter and a pin to go on your varisty jacket. It's a way to show you've gone above and beyond in an activity, academics, athletics, etc.

What if I have another school activity at the same time as a concert? (for example, basketball game, cheer, dance team, theatre, etc)
TALK TO BOTH COACHES (Orchestra and other).
The teachers will help you work it out. You may need to perform in your basketball uniform instead of orchestra uniform. We are flexible!

When is the first Orchestra leadership meeting
August 31st, Seminar (1st movement). You must get pass ahead of time.
If you miss a concert, what happens to your grade?
It goes down 1 letter grade.
What if I have a work conflict with a concert?
Your work is legally required by law to allow you off to attend school events. However, if you fail to notify them in time, you may be scheduled and can't get out of it. In which case, you would miss the concert and lose the letter grade. SO, since you have the calendar now, turn it in. Any problems, see me.

How do you letter`
There are many events outside of school that you can letter in (such as volunteering for fundraisers, playing a solo or ensemble, taking private lessons, playing in youth symphony, etc). Check page 3-4 in the handbook for some ideas.
Is there a final?
Yes, but it is easy, you don't need to study, and it isn't worth a lot of points anyway. That way, you can devote study time to your other classes. In a way, our concerts act as a "Final" in orchestra, because that is when we demonstrate what we have learned. Therefore, practicing for a concert is like studying for a final.
