You know that you will be out of school on Wednesday. What should you do before and after being absent?
Before: talk to the teacher - let them know you'll be absent and ask if there is work you should be doing.
After: Turn in any assigned work. Check with a buddy to copy any notes you missed. If your class has an absent folder, look there. Also talk with the teacher.
True or False
Writing assignments in your planner and taking time to organize your binder is a waste of time that doesn't save you time in the long run.
When (and only when) should you put your papers in the front pocket of your binder and not on the rings?
Only when the paper does not fit in the binder rings. If you can 3 hole punch it, do that. There are also stickers if the page rips out, so you can reattach the page in the binder.
What is a tool that can help you with your time management?
A planner or a calendar (paper or online).
Planning is the key. As much as you hate to admit it, making lists of things to do, taking the time to think and plan for the next day, the next week, the next month, is critical in taking control of your own time.

You have a giant math test on Friday, but have a cross country practice followed by a soccer practice followed by a piano lesson on Thursday, so no time to study. It's Monday. What should you do to set yourself up for success on your math test?
Use your planner and plan ahead. Maybe you can't study on Thursday night, so carve out some time on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have study hall on Friday morning, use that time. Take flashcards with you on the bus, use the before school time, and even snack/lunch if you need.

Setting routines, such as looking at your planner every night, makes it less likely that you will forget to do something.
True. Our brain always likes to take the "easy way out" so by setting a routine and stacking a habit with something you're already used to doing (for example, pull out your planner as soon as you get home), you're less likely to forget.
