This tall narrow plant is native to the United States. It is a perennial that grows primarily in prairies and moist areas. It has lovely blue-purple flower spikes from June until frost. Its name means "scared plant" in Latin and is the nectar plant to the Least Skipper, Clouded Sulphur, and many, many other butterflies.
