That people are fishing/collecting more fish from the ocean than the consumers need. We are taking more fish from the ocean than we are eating/a large amount dies in the process.

-some plastic sinks while others float
-the plastic moves around the oceans with the waves and weather so we can't get a real gage.
-Much of the plastic is so small we can't really see it

- we burn fossil fuels and coal for energy that send carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
-The carbon dioxide is absorbing heat from the sun and trapping it- this is heating up the earth and melting ice.

They are too small to trap in filters so they travel to the ocean where animals eat them (usually on accident because they can't see it)

By-catch is when fisherman trawl, or use a large net to scoop out a lot of fish at one time. This often times collects other fish that they need not need to catch/kills fish in the process.

If there are fewer zooplankton, whats and fish have less to eat.
-the zooplankton eating plastic makes them less nutritious for the animals eating them, starting a spiral of animals not getting what they need to be healthy and reproduce through the food chain
