Who's Who Part 1
The crew that is responsible for setting all props and scenic pieces, as well as any backstage or onstage transitions that must happen during the run of a performance.
What is a Run Crew?
A group of actors to act as the chorus of a performance.
Who is the Ensemble?
A document placed on the callboard that actors sign to signify they have arrived at rehearsal for the day.
What is Sign In Sheet?
Time that a performer or technician is scheduled to appear.
What is Call Time?
A board near the rehearsal/performance space that holds information such as schedules, emergency information and company management communication.
What is a Callboard?
The cast member that is responsible for helping teach, maintain, and note the show's choreography.
What is a Dance Captain?
A member of the cast assigned to review stage combat sequences during the run of a performance to keep consistency and safety.
What is a Fight Captain?
Schedule of the days rehearsal that is sent out the day prior to rehearsal.
What is a Daily Call?
A meeting between production, creative, and design teams where updates and ideas are exchanged.
What is a Production Meeting?
Term used for the movement performers do during a scene.
What is Blocking?
Italian for Master. Head of an opera production and leads the orchestra.
The leader of a dance concert.
What is a Concert Director?
An overhead blueprint of a theatrical set.
What is a Ground Plan?
Member of the audio team that mixes microphones of performers during tech/dress rehearsal and performances.
What is an A1?
A note given to an actor for a missed or incorrect memorized line of dialogue.
What is a Line Note?
Member of theatre's upper level management that traditionally handles budgets and contracts.
What is a General Manager (GM)?
A member of the theatre management team that handles all day to day needs for artists.
What is a Company Manager?
A document showing all performers entrances and exits during a show. It also notes timings and if any prop, scenic piece, or costumes are brought on stage by the performer.
What is an Entrance/Exit Sheet?
The week prior to rehearsal beginning in which the stage manager begins employment.
When a stage manager is following along in the script while the cast say their lines. The SM is prepared to prompt the actor if needed.
What is On Book?
A non speaking, non singing, member of an opera company.
What is a Supernumerary?
Works with the management team, technical crew and Designers to make sure the technical elements of a show are completed safely, on time and on budget.
What is a Production Manager (PM)?
Document that serves as a run sheet for an opera production. This document includes all performer entrances and exits as well as crew duties.
What is a Who, What, Where?
Member of the audio team that is responsible for the maintenance and up keep of all microphones.
What is an A2?
When a director works with an actor on character and/or historical research during rehearsals.
What is Table Work?
