Details are used to explain, evidence is used to prove a claim.
This is the function of a concluding sentence.
To restate or wrap up your main idea.

Good details should always do this.
Relate to the topic sentence.
These are three things you would ask yourself after writing a topic sentence.
Does it include the topic? Does it include an observation? What details support it?

The details/evidence.
The topic of this paragraph is eating nutritious food. Are you in the habit of skipping breakfast? Breakfast is important; it gets your metabolism going. Then spread your remaining calories throughout the rest of the day by eating a wholesome lunch, nutritious snack, and balanced dinner. Eating this way keeps your metabolism high. You are also less likely to binge on junk food. You will have more energy and feel better if you eat nutritious food at least every four hours. What are the purpose of the supporting details in this passage?
To give reasons for eating healthy food throughout the day and how to do it.
Texas School for the Deaf is perfectly located. Moreover, it has a strong academic program. For example, the school has a preschool program where both deaf and hearing children learn together.
What are the transition words in this sentence?

This would be a topic sentence for this paragraph. ___________________________________________. You don't have to take a cat for a walk every day like a dog. You do not have to wash cats because they know how to clean themselves. If you want to go on vacation, you can leave some food and water for your cat and it will be okay. A cat can sleep on your bed and keep you warm at night. I think these things make cats good pets.
