Lilly went to bed Friday night excited for the next day. She could hardly fall asleep because she was going to spend the whole day at the lake with her family. They were going to swim and have a picnic at the beach. It was going to be an exciting day, filled with lots of fun and laughter with her family. The next morning, she jumped out of bed when she woke up and looked out the window to see that it was pouring down rain. Her mom gave her the heartbreaking news that they wouldn't be able to spend the day at the lake. Lilly was devasted because she looked forward to this all week.

"The next morning..." is a good spot because it indicates time moving forward.

"Where's your backpack?" My mom asked me. We were on our way to school and I realized that I didn't have it with me. "I think I left at home. I don't know where it's at, though," I replied. I couldn't remember where I put it after I got home from school yesterday.

We had been in the car for over ten hours. I was bored out of my mind. I wish I could sleep the rest of the way there, but the back seat was packed full and I barely had any room to move. How much longer could it be?

Finally, we had arrived at my grandma's house! I grabbed my suitcase from the car and unpacked as fast as I could.

I spent the whole day at the soccer field for a soccer tournament. We had to play until we lost 2 games or won the entire tournament. My team was hopeful that we would win, but we played some pretty tough teams. We won 3 games straight, but then we lost the next 2 games. We were all sad that we lost, but we knew that we tried our best and our coach was proud of us. Later that night, I went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse with my family and some of my other teammates to celebrate our hard work. I got a steak and a baked potato. It was so good!

I sat on the airplane next to my parents. I was so scared because this was my first time ever being on a plane. My mom held my hand and assured me that there was nothing to be nervous about as the plane took off. It was a little bumpy at the start, but once we got up in the air the ride wasn't so bad. We arrived in Florida 5 hours later and took a taxi to our hotel. It was a long day of traveling and I went straight to bed when we got to our room!

I woke up and ate breakfast. My younger brother sat in the living room and watched tv as my mom drank a cup of coffee at the table. I woke up early this morning so that I could go to school early to study for a test. I put my dishes in the sink, put my shoes on, grabbed my backpack, and headed out the door. I sat in the library and read through my notes. This test was going to be hard, but I felt like I was prepared for it. I studied hard at home last night and this morning.
