A comparison without using "like" or "as"

An arrangement of lines of verse in a pattern that may be subdivisions of a poem

This refers to how the author develops a character through things such as dialogue and action

This refers to the author's attitude toward the subject matter

This refers to repeating the same word or phrases for a specific effect
