Look through and preview the test and questions before starting on it to get a sense of what you're going to be doing. True or False?

True, because if you get a sense of what you're taking on the test you are able to note questions that you may have an idea of how to answer or mark ones that you would come back to later in the test session.

100

If you know two of three options seem correct in a question then choose "all of the above" as your answer choice. True or False?

True, because if you absolutely sure that at least two choices are correct then it leaves it to be "all of the above".

Is it a good strategy to do the questions you feel most confident in (or that you can solve quickly) FIRST and then go back to the multi-step and constructed response after?

This can be a great strategy! This can help with time management and your stamina! Just make sure you always check that each question is answered fully. (Many questions have multiple parts... you may need to SCROLL DOWN)

100

What should you do if you feel like your mind has went blank or you just need to refocus?

(Answers may vary) There are many different ways from t closing your eyes just to pause momentarily or take a deep breath, you could roll your head in a circle slowly or even have a mental talk with yourself to regroup, etc.

200

Should you arrive on time to school each day of testing?

You should arrive on time to school, so that you can be with your testing crew when sessions start. Being on time will ensure that you are not rushing and stressed!

200

Should you guess on a question that you are unsure of?

Not right away, you should flag the question and move onto a different one then come back to it because it is possible that you might see something later on in the test that could possibly help you answer that question you were stuck on.

200
What is the name of the strategy that makes you plug in answer choices to see if you can come up with the correct answer.
Working Backwards.
200

How many hours of sleep should you get before a test the next day?

8-9 hours.

300

Create negative affirmation about test taking such as "I am going to fail" or "I am not prepared for this test at all. True or False?

False! You should never create negative affirmation; it should be positive. You should have thoughts such as "I am fully prepared for this test" or "I am confident to show what I know and earn a good score". (Never put yourself down, you can do it!)

300

On a multiple select question, is it a good strategy to carefully look at ALL of the answer choices (and solve them in math)?

Absolutely! When a question says "Check all that apply" or "Check all correct answers", there will most likely be more than one correct answer. You aren't done when you find one correct response! You must carefully analyze each response!

300
What are several ways to improve your chances of getting the right answer on a multiple choice question?
(Answers may vary) Eliminate any answers that do not make sense or go with the question. Cover your answers and read the question over again and look for key words. Etc..
300

List some foods that you should eat before a test that will wake up your brain and body to do their actions.

(Answers may vary) Nuts, apples, yogurt, blueberries, dark chocolate, peanut butter, eggs, oatmeal, milk, orange juice, grapefruit, etc.

400

On test taking days what type of breakfast should you eat?

You should eat a healthy breakfast with some protein to keep you from having a sugar crash during testing. Super sugary cereals, donuts etc are delicious but should be paired with more hearty food items.

400

Once you finish your test with time to spare you should hit the submit button. True or False?

False, because it is possible that you may have mis-read a question the first time around. It is always good to go back and look over your work! Make sure to carefully review the overview page to make sure you haven't skipped any questions and that you are satisfied with the quality of your responses. DO NOT SUBMIT until your teacher tells you to!

400
If you're having difficulties with a certain question, what should you do about it?
Skip the question and move on to a different one. Do not stay on that question for so long because it will take away from your test time. You can circle it and then come back to it at the end.
400

What types of breathing practices might help to calm your body if you are feeling stressed?

Rainbow breathing, box breathing, lazy 8 breathing, belly breaths.

500

Is sleep important during testing? Why?

A good night's sleep the day before testing is so important! Poor sleep impacts your memory, creativity, and logical reasoning. In other words, not sleeping enough impairs all the skills you need to perform well on CMAS!

500

The question that has an answer that is a bit lengthy than the others is usually the one to be the correct one. True or False?

True, because it can be the one that is most informative and the others can just be something to do with the question but they're not specified or in detail.

500

True or False?

It is not very important to use your scratch paper. Math problems can be done mentally and you shouldn't plan your written responses for the ELA test either.

FALSE! Most math problems require paper to solve, even if you think you can solve a problem mentally, using paper helps you to organize and model your thinking, so that your answer is thorough.
