Customer comes in saying their card didn't work at Dillions. You get the customer's debit card pulled up and you notice the card is in a warm status. You inform the customer that the card is locked due to a suspicious transaction attempt. They want their card turned back on. What steps should the banker take for this situation? What would happen if the customer did authorize the charge in question? What would happen if the customer didn't authorize the charge in question? What if the customer isn't sure or doesn't remember?

1. Inform customer that you will be calling the department that handles these situations to verify which transaction caused the card to be locked (warm status).

2. Ask Bank Card which transaction caused the card to be locked.

3. Once Bank Card lets you know which transaction caused this, you will inform the customer the details of it and ask them if they authorized this or not.

4. If customer says they authorized this, banker will inform bank card of this, employee will submit a miscellaneous connect incident detailing all of this and requesting bank card to turn the card back into an active status and then bank card will turn it back on once they receive the incident.

5. If customer says they didn't authorize it, banker will hot card the card due to fraud and then take the customer into the office to print a new card.

6. If the customer isn't sure or doesn't remember, banker can't turn the card back into an active status. In this case, the best option is hot carding the card and getting a new one.
