The person who draws the pictures in the book.
Who is the Illustrator?
The company that printed the book.
What is the Publisher?
The backbone of the book where the call number is located.
What is the Spine?
The outside of the book with a front and back portion.
What is the Book Cover?
This page inside the book shares the title, author, illustrator and publisher.
What is the Title Page?
The book's address which tells us where to find the book on the shelf.
What is the Call Number?
The label on the outside of the book used to scan the book and keep track of the book's circulation.
What is the Barcode?
Fiction books have this on the first line of the call number.
What is FIC?
Non-fiction books have this on the first line of the call number.
What is the Dewey Decimal Classification number?
In the front of the book is a list of chapters of the book and the pages to find them.
What is the Table of Contents?
A list of major topics in ABC order in the back of the book and what pages to find them.
What is the Index?
A small dictionary in the back of the book with a words and their definition.
What is a Glossary?
A non-fiction book about a person's life
What is a Biography?
The date that the book was published.
What is the Copyright Date?
Text that is darker and heavier than the rest.
What is Bold print?
Photographs, maps and charts are examples of this in a non-fiction book.
What is an Illustration?
Text that is slanted to one side.
What is Italic print?
Information describing a photograph or other illustration.
What is a Caption?
A visual representation of an area.
What is a Map?
An illustration with labels to indicate various parts.
What is a Diagram?
A chart with significant dates in order.
What is a Timeline?
The sections into which a book is divided.
What are Chapters?
A list of sources used to write the book or share additional sources of information
