Receives and processes visual input
What is the Visual Cortex?
Responsible for visual perception and visual short-term memory
What is the Occipital Lobe?
Responsible for planning, mood, emotions, social interactions, attention, memory retrieval and storage
What is the Frontal Lobe?
Responsible for language, memory, spatial awareness
What is the Parietal Lobe?
Responsible for word recognition and understanding as well as hearing and smell
What is the Temporal Lobe?
Controls body temperature, thirst, appetite, sleep patterns,
What is the Hypothalamus?
Controls heartbeat, breathing, swallowing, and digestion
What is the Brain Stem?
Carries visual input from the eyes to the brain
What is the Optic Nerves?
Responsible for balance, movement, and coordination.
What is the Cerebellum?
Where the optic nerves cross; carries input to the visual cortex
What is the Optic Chiasm?
Relays sensory input to the different parts of the brain
What is the Thalamus?
One receives and processes smells, and the other sends information to the Temporal Lobe

Controls growth, metabolism, digestion, sexual maturity, respond to stress
