What is an example of something I can wear at a concert?

You are required to wear artisan black for concerts. Examples of answers include:

  1. A black dress shirt and black pants with a belt.  Dress shoes with dark socks would also be appropriate.

  2. A black dress or skirt with a black blouse.  Dress and skirt lengths must be below the knees when sitting.

  3. Black pants with a black blouse. Make sure that the pants are loose-fitting and foot-length—no Capri pants.

The materials you need everyday in orchestra include:

  • Instrument & bow with dark rosin

  • Violins and violas ONLY – shoulder rest with the size appropriate for your instrument

  • Cellos and bases ONLY - rock stop or endpin rest, which are especially necessary for performances on stage or other slick surfaces.

  • Method book- Essential Elements for Strings, Book 1 for your instrument

  • Black, 1” three-ring binder for sheet music

  • Composition notebook for orchestra journal

  • Pencil- for writing classroom notes in music!

  • Highlighter-for highlighting important things in our music

  • SNARK Super Tight all-instrument tuner- these can be found on Amazon for around $14. Not required immediately.

Is it better to practice a for a super long time only one day a week or for a little bit every day and why?

It is better to practice a little everyday so you don't develop an injury from playing too much at once and also it helps you to remember at home better what we talked about in class each day.
