Introductory Rites

The Entrance
This part of the mass is usually from the Old Testament.
First Reading
This is when the bread and wine are brought up to the alter.
Preparation of the Alter and Gifts
This is when we say the Our Father.
Lord's Prayer
The priest says, "The Lord be with you". What do we respond?
"And with your Spirit".
The priest leads us in praying the Sign of the Cross; he greets us and we say "and with your Spirit".

Second Reading
The priest leads us in praying the Prayer over the Offerings...we respond, "Amen".

The priest says "The Lord be with you" we respond with, "And with your Spirit"

We admit our wrongdoings and ask God for forgiveness.
Penitential Act
This serves as an introduction to the Gospel.
Gospel Acclamation
This is when we join the priest by praying the Church's prayer of praise and thanksgiving to God the Father.
Preface
The priest breaks the host (which is consecrated bread) while we say, " Lamb of God, You take away..."
The Breaking of the Bread
The priest asks us to bow our heads and pray for God's blessing.
Blessing
The priest says the opening prayer and we answer "Amen".
The Collect
We say the Nicene Creed.
Profession of faith
The Priest says, ____________________.
"The Mystery of Faith"
the priest says, "Let us Pray". He then says a prayer. We respond, "Amen".
Prayer after Communion
The priest or deacon sends us forth (he might say, "Go in peace, glorifying the lord by your life".) we respond, "Thanks be to God".
Dismissal
We praise God for all that He has done for us.
Gloria
This is when the priest or deacon explains the Gospel.
Homily
This is when we call on the Holy Spirit to make the bread and wine holy and change them into the body and Blood of Jesus.
Eucharistic Prayer
This is when we receive the Body and Blood of Christ.
Communion
