What is 1 Thessalonians?
Paul asks him to accept his runaway slave back without fault. He should accept him back as a brother in Christ more than as a slave.
Who is Philemon?
Paul is very lonely and misses him. His end is soon. He is concerned with the heresies and persecution affecting the Ephesian Church.

Paul is grateful for their repentance He wants them to be careful of false teachers who are undermining his authority. He reminds them that their future is in the New Creation and in new bodies. Finally he encourages them to be financially generous.

Follow Jesus, mot human leaders. Don't hang out with bad people. Be free, but remember that everything done in the body matters because of the resurrection. He wants them to know that he loves them, in spite of all their struggles. Choose to love others in the same way.

There are no barriers between followers of Jesus. The church has everything it needs to do great things for God. Therefore, with God's endless resources, live a life worthy of your high calling.

Good job, but STOP believing that the end has already arrived. Keep working-don't stop.

This church needs to know who they are in Christ, and the important role God has for them in the world.

The last of 4 letters to this church, Paul writes because they responded well to a harsh correction he delivered. He is concerned with false teachers who undermine his authority and needs to gather funds

What is Philippians?
The Good news that saves us rises above our Jewish or Gentile identity. Paul writes to them so they can understand the Good News as individual communities and as a combined community. God does not ignore our uniqueness but we all come to God the same way- by believing in Jesus' death and resurrection.

He is given instructions on how to appoint leaders and deal with heresy. He is also given instructions on how people in the church should conduct themselves.
