What is the purpose of morning meetings?

To set a tone for respectful and engaged learning and foster a sense of community within the classroom.

What is a calming corner?

A location in the classroom where students can go to regain control when feeling upset.  It can take up to 20 minutes for their brains to reset so they are ready to learn again.  They can’t learn when they are in fight or flight.

Who gives out golden tickets and why?

Anyone who is not a homeroom teacher gives them out when the whole class is modeling respectful, responsible, and safe behavior.

Explicit teaching of how to use it effectively.  Demonstrate- naming feelings and deep breathing when teaching. Students need co-regulation before they can self-regulate.  Naming the feeling also helps reset the brain a little faster.
