These clothes are NOT appropriate attire in outpatient rotations or continuity clinic. These clothes (if issued by the hospital) are also not allowed to be taken home or worn in public.

What are scrubs? Please wear a white coat in clinic if you are wearing scrubs.

The percentage required for pediatric resident attendance at all didactic lectures (Thursday afternoons 12-4), Grand Rounds, Multidisciplinary Rounds, and Morning Report.

What is 80%? Residents are pre-excused from all of the above when on vacation. Residents are pre-excused from Grand Rounds & MultiDisc when on vacation and swing shift; from Didactics when on vacation and night float; from Morning Report when on vacation and swing shift. Review attendance guidelines on p.7 of handbook for rotation specifics.

What are authorized items approved for reimbursement from education funds? Interns receive a $1300 stipend. Second and Third year residents receive $1600. Interns may not attend conferences except for special circumstances (presenting a research project, etc).

The number of scholarly projects required to graduate from this residency program.

What is 1? This project can be research project or a leadership role in a quality improvement project. Case reports cannot fulfill this requirement. All pediatric residents are expected to present conclusions of at least one scholarly project at a regional or national/international venue.

This test must be PASSED by the end of the PGY-2 year or the resident will not be able to become a PGY-3.

What is USMLE Step 3? Residency must formally request time off at least 30 days prior to the start of the month the examination is to be taken. You may use your educational allowance to pay for this test.

During this block of time, there are no vacations to be approved.

What is Block 7? In addition to Block 7, no vacations will be allowed during the last two weeks of Block 13 except those of graduating residents. One week of vacation must be used by Block 5, or you may lose it.

This committee is where the residency program curriculum, changes in scheduling, updating rotations, creating new electives, etc., is discussed. It includes residents, attendings, chiefs, GRMEP education team members, and the coordinators.

What is Pediatric Evaluation Committee? It meets the 2nd Monday of every month from 8-9am. Other committees include the House Staff Council, Nurse/Resident Council, Clinic Improvement Committee, and the Pediatric Residency Council.

Periods of time (time at work, charting at work, charting at home) that must be logged into New Innovations WEEKLY.

What are duty hours? -1st delinquency - you have 48 hours to get your hours logged. If you do not get it done then, you will be called to come immediately to the Program Director or Associate Program Director’s office to log in at their computer... yes, you will have to explain to your rotation attending why you need to leave immediately. -2nd delinquency- You will be called immediately to residency office to log your hours. -3rd delinquency- You will be placed on probation without pay for at least one day.
