What is infectious mononucleosis?
This occurs when there is narrowing of the subglottic area of the trachea resulting in audible inspiratory stridor and a barking cough.
What is croup or laryngotracheobronchitis?
Inflammation of the tonsils which may be viral or bacterial in nature.
What is tonsillitis?
This disorder is most often caused by Haemophilus influenza type b and has become rare since most are vaccinated with the Hib vaccine.
What is Epiglottitis?
Highly contagious disease caused by inhalation of droplets of Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium bovis.
