A 65-year-old man, a retired clerk from the government service, has episodes of pain in the stomach.
The pain is moderate, dull aching, and worsens at night about a couple of hours after meals. The pain is relieved by taking food. He lives in the suburbs where municipal facilities have not yet been installed. He does not report passing any blood in stools, or black tarry stools. He has taken antacids for his pain, yet they have provided mild relief.
