Upper class people valued a college education for their children far more than Lower class people. They sought to only allow Farming, Law, Ministry, and Military for their children. Lower classes, schooling after early elementary wasn't typical. Even lower classes such as slavery, it wasn't ethical and to was illegal to teach enslaved people how to read and write.

Economic Pressures - There were economic difficulties in the Northeast due to the embargo place, as well as the war caused people to seek a better future. As for the south, they sought for new land to replace the overused soil due to poor farming methods which they also relocated westwards.

Improved Transportation - Pioneers had an easier time reaching the Western Frontier as a reset if roads canals, and steamboats, along with railroads.
