Why was opening the second front (D-Day) important and how did it increase tensions between the U.S and the Soviet Union?

The second front was important because then Germany would be basically surrounded and have to fight on two sides. This worsened the U.S and Soviet Union's relationship because it took almost two years for the U.S to be able to open a 2d front. This led the USSR to losing many more soldiers and supplies.
