What is a research paper
Formal studies presenting original findings or analysis

Can a member of Perpetua's team publish in Perpetua
Yes! But you can't get special treatment.
What are rolling submissions?
A type of model has no set deadline or opening date, but rather are reviewed as they are received
Who can be a paper's mentor
UAH-affiliated "staff", such as graduate assistants, tenure-earning faculty, tenured faculty, lectures, and research staff.
What is a literature review
Summaries and evaluations of existing scholarship on a particular topic
What is the peer review stage?
The undergraduate editorial staff (production editors), evaluating the clarity and quality of the writing
If a student desires an exception to a rule, who can grant it?
An Editor in Chief or The Director of Undergraduate Research

What is IRB?
IRB is the institutional approval for human or animal subject research
What is a research proposal
Papers that synthesize current literature and outline possible areas of future studies
What is the faculty review stage
When UAH faculty reviews the content of the paper
How long can a paper be?
While it depends on a reasonable scope for the project, 750-5000 works is a good rule of thumb
What is the goal of Perpetua
To encourage student thought, research, and creative inquiry through publishing experience
It is allowed, so long as it is properly disclosed
What is a research reflection
Thoughtful analysis of the research process itself
What is a production editor
A student editor who evaluates either the content (is it sound?) of the paper or the quality (is it clear and correct?) of the paper.
What type of citations do I need to use?
Any, as long as it is consistent within the project
Who is ultimately responsible for all decisions regarding the paper?
The original author
What type of AI is not needed to be cited?
Spell checkers and grammar checkers
What constitutes a publishing creative work
What is a managing editor
An undergraduate editor who leads the review stages of the paper.
Can I use my name in the paper body?
No, all Personal Identifiable Information must be removed, UNLESS it is essential to the content or medium of the project
