What is the story of the founding of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital? And what does ALSAC do for St. Jude?
Danny Thomas, a struggling actor, prayed to the Saint Jude asking for him to show him the way and promised that if he did he would build him a shrine. Soon after, Danny got an acting job and his career grew. In 1962 he upheld his promise and created a hospital for sick children. No family would ever have to pay for treatment. ALSAC (American Lebanese Siberian Association of Charities) was created to help fundraise to keep his dream and St. Jude's shrine alive.
