What is Newton's 1st law?
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted on by another force.
What causes sound?
Sound is caused by vibrations.
What is an example of something that is artificial light?
A ceiling light, light bulb, candle, etc.
Kinetic energy is energy an object has due to motion.
List the planets in order
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
What is Newton's 2nd law?
A greater force causes more acceleration, while a higher mass requires more force to accelerate.
On a violin, does a long string make a high or low pitch?
Long string= low pitch
Short string= high pitch
What is reflection?
What is refraction?
Reflection= The bouncing back of waves
Refraction= The bending of waves
Define Potential energy
Potential energy is the stored energy an object possesses due to its position, composition, or condition within a system.
Why does the sun appear larger than the other stars in the sky?
The sun is closer to us!
What is Newton's 3rd Law?
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
The glass that has less water in it.
Light shines on a purple dress. The light is made up of red, yellow, green, and purple light. Which color(s) does the dress absorb and which color(s) does the dress reflect?
It reflects almost all purple light and absorbs almost all red, yellow, and green light.
Give an example of something that has potential energy and give an example of something that has kinetic energy.

What is the formula for speed?
Distance divided by time
Three bowling balls get rolled down the lane with the same force applied. One is 2 lbs, one is 3 lbs, and the other one is 5 lbs. Which one will go the further and why?
The 2 lbs. ball will go the furthest because Newton's second law states that the more mass something has the more acceleration is needed. Since the 2 lbs. ball weighs the least and they are all rolled with the same force, it will go the furthest.
What is a medium?
What medium does sound travel the fastest through?
A medium is forms of matter through which energy, such as sound or light waves, can travel. (Solids, liquids, and gases)
Sound travels the fastest through solids!
Transparent- Light can completely go through
Translucent- Semi-transparent. Some light can get through but not all
Opaque- Light cannot get through at all
Which object has the most potential energy?
C. A bowling ball on top of a 2-story building.
For 3 hours, the car went a total of 150 miles. What was the car's speed?
50 mph
Give an example of all 3 of Newton's Laws

Students observe that the sound of their voices echoes in an empty classroom. They fill the room with soft objects like coats and backpacks and notice that the sounds of their voices change.
How will the sound of their voices change if the room is filled with soft objects and why?
The sounds will become quieter because the objects absorb the sound vibrations that reach them.
Give 2 examples for each-
Transparent, translucent, and opaque
