What is Newtons First Law of Motion?
An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.
What is energy?
The ability to make something move or change.
What is a physical change?
When a mechanical change happens to something, but the atoms and molecules that make it up remain the same.
What is the purpose of an abstract?
To summarize your entire project.
How can energy travel through space?
Through light waves!
What is Newtons Second Law of Motion?
The relationship between an object's mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors (as indicated by their symbols being displayed in slant bold font); in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector.
How does an object get more energy?
Energy is transferred to the object from another source with energy.
What is a chemical reaction?
A chemical reaction is when the repeating atoms or molecules that make up a substance change.
What is the purpose of the results section and what is usually included in it?
Graphs and data are included. It is used to communicate the findings of an experiment.
How are sound waves different from light waves?
Sound waves require matter to travel through.
What is Newtons Third Law of Motion?
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
What is the difference between potential energy and kinetic energy?
Kinetic energy is motion. Potential energy is stored energy.
What are the different phases of matter?
Solids, liquids, and gases
What belongs in your introduction?
Your hypothesis, background research, and reasoning for running the experiment.
What can happen to light once it hits an object?
It can be absorbed, reflected, and transmitted.
What is the definition of, force?
is a push or pull upon an object resulting from the object's interaction with another object. Whenever there is an interaction between two objects, there is a force upon each of the objects.
Why is there more potential energy stored in a diver ready to jump from a very high height compared to the edge of the pool?
The higher the diver is, the more they have moved against the force of gravity. This resistance is stored as potential energy in the system.
Can matter be created?
No, atoms can not be created or destroyed.
What belongs in the methods section?
The materials and procedure.
How can waves carry MORE energy?
By having a higher amplitude and frequency.
If a mosquito and a car driving down the road hit each other, which experiences a bigger force from the collision?
They both experience an equal amount of force!
Why did the ring fly in the PVC pipe and flying ring demonstration?
An imbalance in charges caused by the fur giving up its electrons to the pipe and the plastic caused both objects to have a negative charge. Like charges create a repelling force, and this force caused motion in the opposite direction.
What happens to a substance on the atomic scale when it reaches it boiling point?
What belongs in the conclusion section?
A reflection on your findings, an explanation of why you go the result you did, and what you would improve the next time if you could do this experiment again.
Why do objects change when they are outside and exposed to sunlight?
Objects absorb UV light from the sun, and because it absorbs the energy from that light the energy can cause changes to happen.
