Why do car tyres have tread?

Why are racing cars designed to be streamlined?

First calculate the resultant force:
F = ma
F = 1200 × 3
F = 3600 N
The car has 4000 N forwards but only 3600 N resultant.
Therefore:
4000 − resistive force = 3600
Resistive force = 400 N backwards.
