How does Info Travel
100

What is Wavelength?

It is the length of a full cycle of a wave. (The distance from crest to crest

100

What is the incidence ray?

The ray of light coming in.

100

What are the 2 types of lenses?

Convex lens and Concave lens

100

What are optical fibers made of?

Thin strands of glass or plastic.

100

How has information technology changed over the years?

It has become lighter, faster, more efficient and more accessible.

200

What is Amplitude?

It is the 'size' of a wave. It is measured from the equilibrium position (or the central line) to the crest.

200

What is total internal reflection?

It is the complete reflection of light inside an object that doesn't let it escape.

200

What does a concave lens do to light rays?

Causes it to spread apart/diverges it.

200

What are fiber optics made of?

Thin strands of glass or plastic

200

How does information travel through the ocean?

Through a giant cable going through the ocean floor

300

What is frequency?

Frequency is the number of complete waves to pass a point every second.

300

What allows the light rays to bounce off of a mirror without being scattered?

The flat and smooth surface that the mirror has.

300

If you have myopia, what type of lens do you use in your glasses?

Concave lenses.

300

What is the function of fiber optics?

They send information coded in a beam of light

300

Which situations make your phone run out of battery faster?

When you are indoors, in rural areas, or while moving at high speeds.

400

What are all the different types of waves?

Radio, Microwaves, Infrared, Visible, Ultraviolet, X-Ray and Gamma-ray.

400

What is the law of reflection?

The angle of incidence = angle of reflection.

400

What is the difference between concave and convex mirrors?

Concave mirrors magnifies the image while convex mirrors diminishes the image

400

What is reduced in optic fibers?

Signal loss

400

Why is a cell phone called “Cell Phone?”

Because of the system of towers, antennas, and transmitters called “cells”.

500

Which waves can harm the body and how do they harm it?

X-Rays, Gamma rays, and Ultraviolet waves affect the body through radiation and eventually can lead to cancer.

500

What are the things a convex mirror does to an image?

the image is reflected upright and diminished (mostly)

500

What type of mirrors are in a car's rear view mirror?

Convex.

500

What are 3 ways optical fibers can be used?

Cable T.V., internet, decoration, endoscopes, sensors

500

How does information travel?

  1. When you text the radio waves coming from your phone are sent to a tower, then it converts them into a digital electrical impulse, which is sent to the mobile switch center. It then tries to locate the closest tower within the receiver. When it does it reaches the receiver(the person you were texting).
