PIM Concepts
A window that “monitors” the other views in a perspective and is recompiled based on the selections made in other views.
What is a view?
A Data Type of Features that allows for a set of numerical values (Minimum to Maximum) to be stored in an Attribute.
What is a Range?
Uniquely defined object that can be bought or produced, placed in stock and sold. Also known as a Part Number or Item Number.
What is a Variant?
A Base Product containing only one Variant.
What is a Singleton?
An online, interactive, and regularly updated version of a traditional product catalog, allowing Marketing and PMs to highlight specific variants via PDF formats.
What is a Digital Catalog?
A data field that has been assigned to an Item, normally by classifying the Item in a Structure Group. It contains the same characteristics as a Feature.
What is an Attribute?
A characteristic of Features that when turned on, allows for more than one value to be stored in an Attribute.
What is Multiple Values?
Logical grouping of Items, based on their functional equivalence. Base Products are the parents of Variants and are not themselves sellable items.
What is a Base Product?
This is the perspective used to work with Base Products in Product 360 (PIM).
What is Explorer (Products)?
Digital Catalog entity that aligns 1-to-1 with a Base Product in PIM, it displays select Variants and Attributes in a table format. With Variants as rows and Attributes as columns.
What is a Catalog Table?
A data field that exists at the Item level and it’s assigned to all the Items in the database irrespective of their classification. Fixed Fields and their characteristics are defined in the repository.
What is a Fixed Field?
The Second value needs to be in a separate column for import and mapped to the 'Attribute value' field while using “MAX” as the ‘Identifier of the value’.
What is a Multiple Value Attribute?
This is the status required for a Base Product to be shown on Panduit.com
What is "Ready to Publish"?
This element indicates that the Attribute requires a value for all of the Variants in the Base Product.
What is the Mandatory Attribute Flag?
Characteristic selected to be shown as a column in the Base Product table on a Digital Catalog. In PIM, these are defined at the Base Product level and are considered Mandatory to fill.
What is a Catalog Attribute?
A collection of Structure Groups which creates a hierarchical system to classify Items.
What is a Structure?
When deleting or updating values, each value is handled individually. This means either of them can have a value or be empty regardless of the other.
What is a Range or Multiple Value Attribute?
Specific characteristic or property to identify and differentiate Variants in a product. Examples could be the size, color, or quantities.
What is a Selector Attribute?
A grouping of similar Item Numbers that vary only by a limited set of attributes, these are identified and grouped based on their “isness”.
What is a Base Product?
A Fixed Field at the Base Product level that captures marketing-related information, the field allows for 1 to 10 sequenced character strings, these appear as bullet points above Catalog Tables on the Digital Catalog.
What is Feature Bullet?
A subset of Items from a catalog, like filtering but with more capabilities. An assortment is made up from specific Items that have been grouped for a particular purpose, e.g., an export. These can be explicit or dynamic (via a query).
What is an Assortment?
They are the reason behind using Multiple Value attributes in PIM, in practice, they represent a range but cannot be added to an actual Range because they are not written in decimal form.
What are Fractions?
These are populated using Data Quality rules, these exist at the Item level, but should never be populated manually.
What are Concatenated Attributes?
Its characteristics include being unique and able to stand alone; clearly identifying and communicating what the base product is, and typically uses existing naming conventions from marketing collateral.
What is the Base Product Name/Short Description?
A set of rules by which the data used for the Digital Catalog is governed, these ensure that the contents of the Digital Catalog are complete and accurate.
