What does UDL stand for?

Universial Design for Learning

100

What are the parts of a 3 Part Lesson?

Time to Teach & Explore - 5-15 minutes

Time to Practice, Extend, Apply - 10-30 minutes

Time to Share and Reflect - 5-15 minutes

100

What are the 3 stages to keep in mind for backward design unit planning?

STAGE 1: IDENTIFY DESIRED RESULTS -(what the students will know, show, and do)

STAGE 2: DETERMINE ACCEPTABLE EVIDENCE -(plans for assessment before, during, and after instruction and learning)

STAGE 3: PLAN LEARNING EXPERIENCES, INSTRUCTION and ASSESSMENT -(summary of explicit instruction and key learning activities)

Multiple Means of Engagement: consider how to stimulate interest and motivation

Multiple Means of Representation: plan different ways for the teacher to present information and content

Multiple Means of Action and Expression: provide options for students to show their learning

100

What are the 3 components of Balanced Assessment?

Conversation, Observation, and Product.

100

What resource should you refer to first when planning?

Your curriculum guides.

200

What are the 3 multiple means for UDL?

Multiple means of Engagement - why of learning

Multiple means of Representation - what of learning

Multiple means of Expression - how of learning

200

True or False?

A 3 Part Lesson has to follow the order of time to teach, time to practice, time to share and reflect?

False

200

During Stage 1 of the Backward design unit planning template which area of foucs would help you create learning targets for your students?

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MqIJs7BZgXK5OJl9ZHpjQm3yhx5guvTVw40ggqPZOIU/edit

Transfer: by the end of the unit, students will be able to independently use what they have learned to…

200

What types of assessment are included in unit planning?

Pre-Assessment - Get to know where your learners are.

Self-Assessment - Students evaluate themselves throughout stages of the unit.

Formative Assessment - inform what you need to re-teach or spent more time on as a whole group or as a small group. (Informs your instruction)

Summative Assessment - occurs at the end of a unit and supports your grading and report card information.

200

Where can you find the mental math information for your grade level?

In the appendices of the curriculum guide.

300

Having access to math tools and manipulatives is an example of which multiple means of UDL?

Multiple means of Expression - how of learning

300

What are the number of instructional minutes for grade 3-5 math instruction?

90 minutes - this includes mental math.

300
Stage 2 of Backward design consists of what type of assessments?

Pre- Assessment

Formative Assessment

Self- Assessment

Summative Assessment

300

What are the 3 levels of questioning that are part of balanced assessment?

Knowledge, Level 1

Knowledge questions (Level 1) may require students to recall or recognize information, names, definitions, or steps in a procedure.

Level 1 Verbs: identify, compute, calculate, name, find, evaluate, use, measure.

Application, Level 2

Application/comprehension questions (Level 2) may require students to make connections,  represent a situation in more than one way (translating between representations), or solve  contextual problems.

Level 2 Verbs: classify, sort, estimate, interpret, compare, explain.

Analysis, Level 3

Analysis questions (Level 3) may require students to go beyond comprehension and  application to higher order thinking skills, such as generalizations and non-routine problem solving.

Level 3 Verbs: analyze, investigate, justify, compare and contrast, explain, describe, prove.

300

Where can you find out what students should already know for a specific outcome?

In the scope and sequence for the grade before and after under the performance indicators in the curriculum guide.

400

Using guiding questions is an example of which multiple means of UDL?

Multiple means of Engagement - why of learning

400

True or False?

Essential Questions are the same as the performance indicators?

False!

Essential questions are not learning outcomes or performance indicators; they focus on the big questions you want students to consider throughout the course. They guide the unit/lesson and course learning outcomes.

400

How much of a balance assessment should include: a) Knowledge based questions, b) Application based questions, c) Analysis based questions?

a) Knowledge based questions -  Level 1 20%–30%

b) Application based questions - Level 2 50%–60%

c) Analysis based questions - Level 3 10%–20%

400

True or False?

The curriculum guide is the most up to date document to use to plan your units?

False!

500

Providing anchor charts for students to refer to as needed and pointing out anchor charts within the room is an example which multiple means of UDL?

Multiple means of Representation - what of learning

500

What are the number of minutes for mental math?

30 minutes

500

True or False?

Stage 3 of backward design consist only of planning lessons and tasks?

False!

It includes assessment as well and knowing where your students are.

500

What is the purpose of balanced assessment?

To Know:

  • Who are our students?
  • How are they doing?
  • How do we know?
  • What are the necessary actions to ensure success for all?
500

What document has the most current and up to date information on outcomes to address within a unit?

Your pacing guides.
