What is Earth's outer layer?
The layer of Earth that is made of soft solid rock, underneath Earth's outer layer.
What is the mantle?
Tool that scientists use to track plate movement that occurs today.
What is GPS?
Evidence from life from the past, such as bones, footprints or leaf prints
What is a fossil?
What are Earth's plates?
Type of plate boundary where plates move towards each other and the more dense plate is subducted into the mantle.
What is a convergent boundary?
Earth's plates move approximately 3 cm per year.
What is the rate of plate motion?
Any of the many processes (such as eruptions and lava flows) in which gas, lava, and ash are pushed out on the surface of Earth.
What is volcanic activity?
Earthquakes and volcanic activity that occur in a pattern.
What is a plate boundary?
Type of plate boundary where two plates move away from each other as soft, solid rock from the mantle rises in between the plates and adds new solid rock to the edges of both plates.
What is a divergent boundary?
The 1st scientist to make the claim that continents are drifting apart.
Who is Alfred Wegner?
Any of Earth's main continuous areas of land, such as Africa, Asia, and North America

Landform that is found at a convergent boundary.

The super continent we reconstructed using fossil evidence (in class).

A feature that forms on the surface of a planet, such as a mountain, channel, or sand dune

Creatures that were once ancient lizards that looked like small crocodiles with narrow heads and long tails - fossils are found in South American and Africa.

Landform found at a divergent boundary.

The strongest evidence we have that supports the claim that South American Plate and African plate are separating by a divergent boundary.
