Hawaii is not on a plate boundary, in fact it is almost in the middle of a plate, yet it is formed from new volcanic activity. How? what is this called? I am looking to the name and what it is!

Hawaii is on a Hot Spot. A hot spot is a particularly hot part of the mantle. It is hot enough to burn straight through the crust and release magma and cause volcanic activity.
