Upon boot of the active controller, the array performs a check on its hardware inventory. This includes installed PCI cards, configured NICs, NVRAM, memory, and CPU.

Based on the installed inventory, a corresponding model number is displayed.

  • This runs on the active controller and receives requests from GMD to perform actions. It is responsible for monitoring the NICs on the active controller and bringing up IP addresses or migrating as needed.

This process must be started before any of the others can function. This service is responsible for establishing the processes on each controller for their appropriate role (active or standby), monitor running processes, and persistently maintain the current state of array software updates.
