Throughout my elementary school years, I was a classic ADHD child behavior-wise and I had D's and F's for most of my subjects in school. I received regular special education support and my mother threatened to hold me back because I was doing so poorly. From grade 7-12, I remained in the number 2 from the top spot on the Honor Roll list and was known in school as one of the smart kids. I graduated my university degree with a perfect 4.0 GPA. No medication, just something in me decided to discover my own executive functioning strategies to cope and work harder. Never underestimate our elementary students' abilities!
